Created for Relationships

Over the course of my ministry, one key element of the Christian faith has become more and more important to me. We were created in the image of God. The book of Genesis begins with a beautiful poem, a poem that conveys the deep truth that God is the creator of all things. And humanity stands out among all of creation, because we were created in the image of God.

The creation story gives us a beautiful glimpse into God’s character. In Genesis 1:26 God says, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” We were created in the image of God, the Trinity, the three-in-one. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer. In the beginning God was relationship! And if we are created out of relationship then we were also created FOR relationship.

As Father Richard Rohr says, “When we start with God as relationship, we begin the spiritual journey on a very different foundation.” This foundation is one of connectedness and interdependence. If I have learned anything in my life it is that we do not do life alone. We do life with others. And the more open we are to that reality the more beautiful our life becomes.

No matter where we are on our life’s journey we can all strengthen our connections to others and enhance our relationships. We can do this professionally and personally. There is no part of our life that can’t be enhanced by investing in our relationships with others.

I began Inspire and Respond in response to learning about my unique interpersonal needs through the FIRO-B assessment. It improved my ability to lead others. It gave me insight into my marriage. It offered me new language to ask for what I needed. I’m excited to be able to offer the same experience to you. Learn more below and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

In it together,

Megan
